Re: Government jobs after completing Engineering in EEE branch?
    Hello There
This is Saurav signing in from Bhubaneswar.I am also a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering just like you. It feels really nice to be conversing with someone from the same background. To be honest its been very long since I have interacted with a E.E.E. graduate.Anyways, yes you are eligible to apply for many number of govt sector jobs after graduation in Engineering from E.E.E. stream. But the thing is that you have to make sure that you are really strong enough in your Engineering subjects. Let me tell you. These kind of competitive exams are not like a normal pool campus where you compete with only few hundred candidates. The competition is really stiff when it comes to govt jobs. But with few attempts ,serious preparation and some months ,do make things go our way. In govt jobs the competition is high but those who have indepth knowledge in their subject sail through with a wonderful job in their hand.
Well now I am going to provide you a list of few most important govt sector exams you should look for in your first glance. Here are the list:

1>Govt Wings :- Some of the Major Government wings like Telecom sectors,Indian Railway,Indian Airlines,Indian Postal services,Indian revenue services, central excise office,Income tax dept etc also do require candidate from different core streams. You are also eligible for any of these jobs also. But remember that the jobs in these sectors are more managerial oriented rather than technical oriented. But you may expect some exciting technical jobs in Telecom sector and Indian Railway. The news regarding openings are generally posted in "Employment News" 2> PSUs : - Some major core engineering PSUs giants (BHEL, NTPC, NHPC, NPCIL, ONGC, GAIL,TATA, L&T, SAIL, IOCL, CIL etc) of our country have a regular vacancies every year. Some of these PSUs conduct an exam and followed by an interview to hire good many number of candidates from Electrical,Mechanical,Electronics,Civil branches. You may start preparing for these exams by enrolling yourself in some coaching institute or self study techniques. The notifications of such exams can be made available from "Employment news" on a weekly basis or you may visit freshersworld website regularly. But remember you have to be really good enough in your studies to be able to crack those exams. These exams are never easy for an average student. But with proper coaching and regular practice of competitive question, these exams are also crackable. Moreover you will be getting highest salary with outstanding perks. 3> I.T sector : Yes IT is a fast and growing sector.IT sector has become the backbone of our country's economy over the years.IT sector is getting boon in recent years. There are much opportunities for an E.E.E graduate in these sector.I think you should not neglect this sector particularly if you are having a 60 to 65% career throughout academics. This sector covers most of the eminent IT giants like IBM, Infosys,Tech-Mahendra, HCL , CTS , Wipro , Mahendra-Satyam, Genpact etc.But remember one thing more preferance would be given to CS and IT graduates.Take exams like AMCAT,etc to project ur skills. 4> Power ,Gas,oil and coal sectors : - Some oil and gas refineries, power sectors and coal and mining sectors also provides opportunities for desperate and outstanding candidates to work in their organization. Also most of these sectors are interested in those students possessing a very handsome GATE scorecard. So if you want to get absorbed in any of best public sector organizations then GATE exam is a must for you.Start preparing for the gate exam by enrolling yourself in some coaching institute. There are few well running institutes providing GATE coaching in India like MADE EASY, ACE Academy,Brilliant tutorials ,Gate - forum etc. 5> Banking Sectors : - Yes this is very much true, even an Engineering graduate can also apply for clerical, PO/MT , A.O. , Technical officer types of posts in the banking and insurance sectors. What you need here is just a degree certificate from a recognized institution or university with 55% marks which I am sure you have it.This sector is gaining a lot of momentum as far as modernization is concerned. Also the number of candidates to hired by the end of this year would likely cross 2 million. So there is a hell lot of opportunity in banking sector. 6>I E S/I A S:- If you want a dream job, probably the best paid and prestigious job in our country then you should go for IES or IAS civil service exams. These are central govt exams conducted by UPSC under the guidance and supervision of Ministry of Human resource Development. You may also apply for the technical jobs conducted by staff selection commission or state public services commission to be able to join some respectable jobs in your own state. The jobs that you will be given after qualifying IES/IAS will comprise a mixture of both managerial decisions and technical supervision. The perks and emoluments after salary is really the best.So try to crack this exam. But remember the difficulty level and syllabus for both the above mentioned exams are appreciably high.Similarly,IFS/IRS/IPS,or Groups, etc 7> DRDO,ISRO,Bramhos technology and SSC :- If you want a job which is challenging , prestigious and the same time related to patriotism then you have to try and qualify the exams conducted by these organization which are powered by Ministry of Defense. All you require is 60 % in B.tech/B.E to apply for these sector. But remember these exams are very tough and you may be appointed in research field or scientific U can always choose HIGHER STUDIES and SKILL trainings,INTERNSHIPS,etc after graduation for raising ur CV value and then, try big. There are social sites like Linkedin.com,indeed.com,etc for contacts with experts, professionals, educationists ;u may be given ur liking job someday, who knows with contacts. See, the list doesn't end. There are many more small and big sectors providing enough jobs for EEE graduate. What I have mentioned above are key sectors .So opportunities are always there but its depends on you how much you utilize your soft skills .I hope my detailed analysis would help you in reshaping you career.Anyways best of luck for a bright future.

    Regards Saurav
