Building on his seven dimensional theory of a constellation of
values, Alfred Bernhart envisions Metropolis 2025. This is the
abstract from this vision.
At the turn of the century, with the beginning of a new
millennium enlightened groups of humanity experience a not very
harmonious change in the constellation of values which results
among other effects in improvements of urban forms. The three very
human value groups of LIFE's well being, of community in
TOGETHERNESS and expansion of Knowledge through CREATIVE THINKING
exert strong influence which reflects on shape and comprehension of
"sharing" society's preferred urban forms.
People enlightened enough to accept the new order of values and
live in new forms of urbia will enjoy the spectrum of the values
arising from the seven dimensions of human perceptions and
abilities in their environment.
Distance will become less important with improved communication
technology, yet remains a major design consideration especially in
densely populated central areas.
Area's uses will include residential, administrative and
manufacturing districts leaving large areas up to 75% of
metropolis' total for greenlands with trees, lawns and flowers.
Height's spatial dimension will be skillfully used to stimulate
togetherness and create beauty
Time's revised value will make movements in new urbia traffic
systems pleasant and comfortable, rather than a rat race
Life's well being will be enjoyable in a symphony of residential
and working districts, designed for various lifestyles preferences
with different degrees of natural greenery
Togethernessfor the leading minds will be stimulated in high &
low rise residential districts surrounding the centre
Creative Thinkinghumanity's supreme ability will be intensely
pursued in Metropolis' vibrant high rise center
