Which engineering branch is coolest? (Discussion)

oLahav saidWed, 06 Aug 2008 13:38:42 -0000 ( Link )

As you probably know, there is an endless amount of engineering branches- chemical, civil, biological, biochemical, mechanical, electric, electronic, mechatronic, software, structure, wind, naval, environmental, and the list goes on and on.

Which branch do you think is coolest? If you could go into any type of engineering, which one would you choose? And most importantly, why?

i think software branch is the coolest one…...... i am not speaking this being a software engineer but really it is the coolest branch among the others. there is no risk as well as u can solve any type of problem using your programming concept…......... i enjoy software nicely.

Chemical Engineering deals with basics of almost all other core engineering subjects-mechanical, civil, etc. Also, this branch deals mainly with fluid dynamics and thermo dynamics…and about designing of chemical plants… maybe becaue I’m interested in the fluid stuff..nyway I Hope chemical engineering is the coolest branch of engineering…

Of course, software field is so challenging and exciting. But the main problem is that it advances so quickly that you won’t know even if you’re out of the whole game

The thing I like most about chemical engineering is the fact that it’s one of the oldest branches of engineering, and it’s still gonig strong after such a long time. Chemicals are always being researched and developed to find new ways of making things, and especially now that we’re concerened with health and materials that can cause cancer more than ever before chemical engineering will become important. Chemical engineering does relate to most of the other branches, which really does make it quite a cool dicsipline. With the emergence of sub-branches like nanotech-chem and other things, it’s sure to continue being a main branch of engineering.

it depends on ones own interest.i preferred chemical because i love chemistry in fact organic chemistry is my favourite..as you see nowadays many lasses and dudes prefer software.for me it is a strict no no…we can choose among the traditional ones too.i am happy that i am doing what i wanted to do…currently am doing my b.tech prpc….dpnt wonder what prpc means.prpc is the abbrevation for petro.refining and petro chemicals….at anna varsity

i think that Industrial engineering is one of the coolest branch as it deals with innovation, integration, and development of new ideas…one’s should have to update himself accordingly…with new advancement and by making new changes one van enjoy new ideas and technolgy by himself…can gain maximum profit…can enjoy diversity of work…...so IE is coolest u can say :)

Wouldn’t thermal engineering be the “hottest?”

No, that’s just a pun. It is pretty cool. I’ve personally been interested in nanotech lately… it’s amazing how they can get into the tiniest, basic molecules and manipulate them, and then get results in the big picture.

I think that the three basic engineering branches are the coolest which are Civil, Mechanical & Electrical. These branches form the core of all engineering activities and no other engineering branch can isolate itself from all core branches. Chemical, Software, IT, Robotics, genetics etc somehow need support from at least one of these three branches.

its the electronics guys who get to know the insight of every gadget that you ppl out there boast of, nothing like being oldest or the core ..but i can bet that without electronics engineers life would be so boring ..no cellphones, no TV, no music….... lists endless ..so i feel its the coolest branch

    Dear wholeworld,

If you are really passionate about making a career in computer field you can consider studying B.Tech in Computer Science. Of course one can always make career in computer field by taking up Electrical Electronics, Mechanical, IT as well.

Aerospace engineers can be employed with DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation), HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) or NAL (National Aeronautical Laboratories). For brighter career prospects, a Ph.D. is a must. After completing a degree course in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, you can do the Masters’ in Aerospace Engineering and Ph.D.abroad. There are greater job opportunities for aerospace engineers, with many private companies entering the field of aircrafts and defence vehicles manufacturing.

although it depends on a particular person’s choices but I think that Eletcronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is the best branch. - If you are intersted in programming then you can go in the field of Embedded System design. It includes programming of Microcontrollers and microprocessors. - If you are intersted in Robotics, you can go for robotics from here by taking robotics or mechatronics as optional subject while completeing your undergraduation studies in ECE. - If you want to go for Networks or Antennas or Digital Communication, airtel, Idea , erricson or BSNL or etc. You can go in that. - Nowadays everything is digital ..go for ECE and you can join any electronics gaint Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Motorola, LG, Apple HP, Microsoft, list is endless… - If you are intersted in Biology but don’t want to cut flesh.. go for Biotechnology after Bachelors in ECE. - you can also go for Control engineering sectors like … Delhi metro, petroleum, hydal power, geothermal industries have vaccancies for control engineers - Work in VLSI industries Sun micro systems or Intel etc… - you can go easliy into Nanotechnology from here. - U can do ur masters in some studies related to avation as well .. like control systems. - Or last but not least even if you end up doing nothing in any of above, U can stilll go in IT sector from this branch as you have studied Data structure , and a computer langauge during the ECE studies.

So it depends on an individual what he wants but according to me ECE is the best branch ….

    “Jeena ECE ka naam hai ” : ) .......
